When I woke up this morning, the village was covered in smoke, and the air was so thick with it. Earlier today, our region was classified as a red fire zone and now we've been moved to an orange fire zone.
The air felt so heavy and sad. The smoke blurred the distance between everything. From the mountain, the trees in the valley were either completely hidden beneath the smoke or looked so faint they almost disappeared. It was such a sad scene to see.
I ask myself whether the government could have prevented this situation before the fires happened. I think they absolutely could, because these wildfires happen every single summer. So why not put more prevention measures in place instead of only trying to extinguish the fires after the fact?
