57- In search of fall colours

I really wanted to see some fall colours before all the leaves fell so I went for a nature walk at KLO Regional Park in Kelowna. Living up in Big White, we don't get much fall colour.

Recently, I've really been wanting to see some fall colour before all the leaves fall. We don't get much colour change up in the mountains where I live. All the trees are coniferous and they keep their deep, dark green colour all year long. I've been wanting to experience the change of season with more than just the cold air. So I thought going for a hike somewhere where I could see the fall colours would be the perfect way to experience it. It makes me feel that the season is actually changing and that winter is on the way.

We went to KLO Regional Park in Kelowna, about an hour's drive from where we live in Big White. It was such a joyful hike and I really, really liked it. I decided that I want to go for a similar walk every weekend whenever possible. Just the act of walking in nature feels so extraordinary!

Here in Big White, we don't have much of an opportunity to do that. The trails are either not ready yet (they haven't been maintained since last April), so they are hard to walk on, or they all go up the mountain where it gets so cold and windy.

Yesterday, I tried to go on one of those unmaintained trails. The trail was overtaken by bushes and broken trees and it was absolutely not easy to walk there. Also, there were definitely bears in that forest. Fifteen minutes in, I decided to turn back because I had this strong feeling that something wasn't right.

I made this video of my forest excursion yesterday:

All right. Now I'm gonna end this article and go on reading my Celtic tale books beside the crackling fire. This is my favourite way to end the day.
