End of ski season village and the calm that follows
End of ski season village life, quiet forest walks, melting snow, and preparing for a spring trip to Vietnam.

This is April 7th and today was the last day of the ski season in the village.
This morning when I was walking through the village center to go to the forest, I saw many workers gathering the decorations from the street and shops to make the village ready for the shut down.
It was an icy but sunny day. The sun felt stronger and more direct. I could feel its warmth on my face, even though the wind did not give me much chance to remove my gaiter.
On my way back down, I saw some people packing up to leave. Some were already on their way out of the village. Everything felt calm and stress-free. Even the workers sounded relaxed.

This time of year is my favorite.
I love this calm, meditative state. I can hear the birds more clearly without the loud music from pubs and bars. And I enjoy having fewer people around.
During the season, the village is very crowded and walking among them can feel overwhelming. So, I avoid them as much as I can.

I have been going to the forest since the town shut down and I love it so, so much. It is just me in the forest and the birds and maybe some half sleep bears further up. The snow is melting though and the warm cold fluctuation lately has made a forest trail very icy. I do enjoy my forest walk anyways. I went there prepared . I put on my spikes and that makes walking a lot easier even though they fall off my feet very often!

Many village residents thought about leaving the village too. Because there is no life (city life) in the village during the shoulder season. Some go to their secondary residence in Vancouver island or in Kelowna and some others go for a long trip.

Even though I really like this quiet town, my partner, Gab, found the village scarcity and dead. He called it a ghost town! and wanted to travel, too. So we are going to Vietnam soon and I am so excited about that! We also have a layover in Tokyo for one day and that excites me even more.
I will share more when I am there and I will keep posting on YouYube along the way.
I have a feeling this trip is going to be special 🙂

Talk to you later.
During an early morning walk in the woods
It was too icy in the forest, so I needed to put on my spikes. These spikes come off my boots easily and I lose them all the time, so each timethat happens, I have to walk back to find them.
I found a temporary solution for this. I attached them to my boots using Velcro! At least they stay attached when fall off and I can put them back!
Packing up for the trip to Vietnam.
