HIKE

Like I mentioned in my previous article, we went on a nice hike this Saturday. On Friday, I was looking for a hiking destination where I could see some fall colours. I'm pretty upset that I can't see any fall colours here in the mountains. I miss them so much! My research kept telling me that I'd have to drive for at least four hours to see some fall colours. That was so disappointing. I gave up and asked Gab to do his best. He found this nice place. There weren't that many fall colours, but at least we got to see some.

But there is something really spectacular about this hike: the trail follows an old railway line that was built in 1914 and abandoned in 1978. The rails have since been removed and the old railway line has been converted into a trail for hikers and bikers.

This trail is called Myra Canyon Trestles and is part of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail near Kelowna.

Ah, this trail is so beautiful! Even though yesterday was a very foggy day and I couldn't see very far, the fog added a mysterious vibe to the giant abandoned wooden and steel trestle bridges and the tunnels that remain from the old railway.

I walked the whole way with a sweet smile on my lips and butterflies in my stomach

This trail is pretty popular and gets lots of hikers and bikers but we left very early in the morning and we were the only ones on the trail. I was walking fast, going through all the dark tunnels and across the high wooden trestles, with the other side disappearing into the thick fog. And I was all alone.

That was such an amazing morning. I'm still tripping on the memories of that hike!

Here are some photos from the hike. If you live not too far from Kelowna, I recommend visiting this place. It's completely free!
