My new job leaves me with enough energy to think about what really matters to me. I have started by eating healthier, exercising, and also thinking about my thoughts.

I know the last one sounds confusing, but I have realized that many of my thoughts (especially my judgments) are not really mine. They just pop up in my mind without me choosing them.

Let's say I see someone covered in tattoos. Without wanting to, I immediately start judging them: I don't like it. Those people must think differently. Or I find myself in a situation and instantly think, I like this or I don't like this.

But why should I judge a person or a situation right away?

I think my real self wants to stay with the experience a little longer, examine it from different angles instead of rushing to a conclusion.

These automatic judgments hurt me so much! They create stress and leave me feeling unhappy or afraid. I am tired of carrying them around, so I have decided to filter them.

I am not very successful at it yet, but at least I have started noticing them. And that is already a big improvement.

I am still not confident about my career change, but I do feel that this new job has created space for me to take actions that help me become healthier, both physically and mentally.

Isn't that the reason we came into this world? To become healthier and happier ourselves, and to help others become healthier and happier too?
