Donald is 70 years old but has such a young spirit. Last night he invited us to his place for dinner where he made salmon and rice with a delicious cream sauce. I helped him make a salad. The dinner was delicious and then he made us crêpes (the traditional Québécois dessert) tossed in maple syrup he produces himself.

Each year around mid February he makes lots of maple syrup collected from the birch trees in his land in Quebec, Canada. Then he organizes a big party inviting his friends. He told me at these parties he invites between 150 and 200 people.
For him, human friendship is so important and he gains lots of joy from these parties. He loves cooking for friends and I think this is his strength. People love him, me too! 😇 He has such cute manners. He calls me “belle mademoiselle” (beautiful lady) and if I’m the only woman he always serves me first.
Last night after dinner, he served us a drink and put on some music. He dances with the music, I could see the 25-year-old Donald in him as he was dancing. He showed me photos of when he was in his twenties, so it was not hard to imagine 😉

I think Donald is full of life, a quality many people seem to lose as they get older. He has lots of interesting stories to tell. It makes me wonder if his life was so extraordinary or only the way he tells these stories is so unique or that he just experiences ordinary events in such an extraordinary way.
I wonder how I will feel when I reach my seventies. I really like to have his young mindset and manner 😉
